Responsibilities:
- define and drive the long-term technical strategy for the team, aligning it with high-impact business goals,
- collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and analysts throughout the development lifecycle to ensure technical sustainability and informed decision-making around trade-offs and risks,
- act as a technical multiplier by shaping and promoting scalable architecture patterns and robust operational practices,
- own team operations and service reliability by implementing effective monitoring, alerting, incident response, and testing strategies,
- foster a strong engineering culture centered on code quality, ownership, and thoughtful design through standard-setting, code reviews, and knowledge sharing,
- mentor and support team members through ongoing feedback, technical guidance, and hands-on leadership,
- work with Capital Markets teams to build and integrate complex financial structures and services,
- design and develop core backend systems that enable secure, transparent, and scalable business operations,
- continuously learn and apply knowledge in structured finance areas such as warehouse lending, forward flow, and asset-backed securitization (ABS),
- identify areas of complexity and risk, and implement automation solutions to eliminate them.
Requirements:
- experience designing, building, and scaling backend systems using Python,
- proven expertise in developing highly available, distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes,
- track record of delivering major system components or deprecating legacy functionality through well-defined technical and execution plans,
- ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that’s easy for others to understand and build upon,
- comfort operating across multiple levels of abstraction, from low-level implementation details to high-level system architecture,
- strong collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to gather and act on feedback from both engineering and cross-functional partners,
- excellent written and verbal communication skills for working effectively with globally distributed teams,
- familiarity with deployment pipelines and automated testing frameworks is a plus,
- hands-on experience with Spark, AWS (EC2, ECS, S3), and Kubernetes,
- familiarity with Spark or Pandas is a plus,
- prior experience working with financial systems or in capital markets is a plus.
