Staff Software Engineer (Search Platform)

Responsibilities:

• define the long-term technical direction for your team, aligning it with key, business-critical initiatives over an annual planning horizon,
• work closely with cross-functional partners—including product managers, designers, and analysts—throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure technical decisions are sustainable, and that potential risks and trade-offs are clearly identified and addressed,
• provide technical solutions and efficient operational practices, you'll amplify your team's impact and effectiveness,
• take responsibility for your team’s operational excellence and system reliability by putting in place comprehensive monitoring, incident response rotations, documentation, policies, testing strategies, and alerting mechanisms to support both daily operations and on-call responsibilities,
• cultivate a culture of accountability and technical excellence by setting and promoting high standards for code reviews and system design, and by sharing your knowledge through documentation and technical presentations,
• support the professional growth of your teammates by offering constructive feedback, mentorship, and leading by example.

Requirements:

• at least 8 years of hands-on experience in designing, building, and deploying large-scale backend systems, using programming languages such as Python or Kotlin,
• working experience with highly available, distributed systems, leveraging tools and platforms like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes,
• experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality in a system through the definition of a technical and execution plan,
• thrive in ambiguity, and are comfortable moving from low level language idioms all the way to the architecture of large systems to understand how they work,
• strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team,
• nice to have: ElasticSearch, OpenSearch,
• fluent English.
